A Different Kind of Adventure…

Eastside Guesthouse & Bivy is a family-owned and operated business. Our family loves adventure! Eric grew up in Bishop and has always loved the outdoors. He married Susan, a “city girl” who has grown to enjoy the diverse beauty and small town charm that is Bishop. Our 3 (now grown) kids spent summers and holidays visiting their grandparents – hiking and backpacking in the mountains, fishing in the lakes, floating the canal and getting treats from Schats Bakery. They also have grown to love Bishop.

In October of 2015, Eric made an offer on this iconic piece of Bishop history – consisting of one acre containing an 1880’s Farmhouse (known locally as the McNally House – which MANY stop to admire and photograph daily), a 1930’s cottage, the shed, the Ranch house, its garage and the Metal Building which used to be an Auto shop. The offer was accepted and two of our three kids and their spouses quickly made the move to Bishop – one from Dallas (Ashley & Laurence Blocker) and one from Santa Cruz (Jordan & Danielle Rose)- to be part of this new adventure. The third one, (Kate & Jordan Harris) live in Fresno but have been helping with the website and offering input when needed.

It’s been a long journey. Lots of blood, sweat, tears, and money have been poured into making this property a comfortable and inviting place. Below are the before and after pictures.

We are excited to finally be opening and sharing this beautiful property with others. We hope it will be a great destination in and of itself – with its comfortable sleeping quarters, large community room with fireplace, kitchen and tables and couches for hanging out; beautiful patio, deck with pond; and many grassy areas to relax in the shade. But it’s also surrounded by natural beauty – with world-class bouldering, awesome lakes, and numerous hiking trails.
